Good Food Guide 2004

North Devon now has a restaurant listed in The Which? Good Food Guide.

The 2004 edition has just been published and Decks Restaurant makes it's entry into this exclusive company. There being no other restaurant listed within 20 miles and nothing on the coast between Padstow and Porlock Decks stands as a beacon to dining in North Devon.

What they say

'....fish dominates the menu. Velvet-textured lobster bisque is full of fresh flavour, while expertly prepared sole and salmon terrine, with contrasting rocket, has been described as 'a visual treat which also delivered to the taste buds'.

.......Dishes are served under silver domes, followed by the ceremonial lifting of the lids. Puddings might run to white chocolate and blueberry crème brûlèe, while rich home made truffles and coffee left a reporter purring.

A wide-ranging wine list of around 50 bins offers good choice by the glass.'

Lunch £6.00 to £18.50
Dinner £12.50 to £18.50

Decks Restaurant is also listed in the AA 2004 Restaurant Guide. Here it has been awarded a rosette* and a 'Best Use of Seafood'** symbol.

*One rosette denotes 'Excellent local restaurant serving food prepared with care, understanding and skill, using good quality ingredients. These are restaurants that stand out in their local area.'

**Best Use of Seafood Competition 2004 highlighted 150 restaurants in the UK.

What they say

'Vibrant eaterie notable for its maritime dècor based around a ship's mast passing through two floors. This theme is relevant considering the spectacular sea views from the windows and the lovely beach at Instow.'
