INSTOW PARISH COUNCIL EMERGENCY SELF HELP PLAN

1. Purpose of the Plan. The purpose of this plan is to provide a self-help response, particularly shelter, during any emergency affecting the community, when the normal emergency response provided by the Emergency Services and the Local Authorities is delayed, because of the scope and nature of the emergency.

passing messages via mobile telephone in the surrounding area, and asking them
to inform the Police.

3.2 Loss of Other Main Services. The loss of electricity can
have a "knock on effect" on all other mains services. The weather will also
affect the severity of the emergency, as will the availability of
communications within, and outside, the community. The situation will be
assessed by the Parish Council Emergency Management Team at the time, and a
suitable response made, using the resources detailed in the self-help plan.
